Our Story
Alcalay William FERRE, founder of PLEVITON, earned his Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Lausanne in 1941. Guided by scientific ideals, he continued his research through turbulent times, driven by a mission to protect health through science.
After more than 20 years of study across Europe, he combined Swiss pharmaceutical technology with Spanish botanical extracts. Observing growing modern health challenges—especially weight management concerns—he recognized that natural ingredients offered safer, longer-lasting solutions than short-lived chemical-based products.
In 1966, he returned to Spain, built a production facility, and officially founded PLEVITON. The brand name, derived from “Pleasure” and “Viton,” embodies our mission to bring natural, vital energy to everyday life.
R&D Heritage: A Legacy Since 1952
PLEVITON’s R&D story traces back to 1952, with the official registration of its predecessor, LABORATORIO BIO-TERAPEUTICO RALAY (Reg. No. 36.818). Guided by the core philosophy of “Scientific Extraction from Nature, Professional Care for Health”, the laboratory developed dozens of health-focused formulations, laying a robust foundation for the brand’s future. PLEVITON was officially founded in Barcelona in 1966, bridging the gap between research and real-world consumer needs. By 1975, the brand expanded its manufacturing facilities, built a standardized production base, and scaled up operations. That same year, second-generation successor Ms. ROSA FERRE FERRANDO pursued advanced training in clinical nutrition, further elevating the brand’s R&D expertise.
1975: Standardized Production & Scientific Advancement
1975 marked a transformative milestone for PLEVITON. The brand completed a full factory expansion, built a state-of-the-art production base, and upgraded its trademarks and core technologies. This shift from small-scale, workshop-style R&D to standardized, scalable production laid the groundwork for large-scale growth. Concurrently, ROSA FERRE FERRANDO, the brand’s second-generation leader, advanced her studies in clinical analysis, mastering clinical testing and enzymatic experimentation to strengthen PLEVITON’s scientific capabilities.
1980s: PLEVITON Takes Spain by Storm
The 1980s saw PLEVITON rise to prominence in Spain, driven by its clear product positioning and science-backed formulas. Sales surged as the brand became a household name in weight management, earning features in leading Spanish publications including EL NOTICIERO UNIVERSAL. On August 29, 1981, founder R. FERRE published a landmark weight-loss piece in EL NER, breaking down the root causes of obesity and introducing the brand’s core ethos: “weight management supported by natural plant extracts” — a principle that remains central to PLEVITON’s R&D today. In 1982, ROSA FERRE FERRANDO further solidified the brand’s scientific credibility with two published articles in EL NOTICIERO UNIVERSAL: one on healthy weight loss (January) and another on vitamins and balanced nutrition (December), clarifying key information on vitamin classification, functions, food sources, and the critical role of dietary balance.
